Hey everyone,
Currently on a layover in the land of our beloved Luis Sinisterra. I’m writing on an experience I had watching Leeds United on the beach a few weeks back. I typically watch the football in a pub, but when we played Brighton, my girlfriend and I decided to have a day at the beach.
Punta del Este, Uruguay is known as the Monaco of South America, so I decided it’d be worth skipping the pub to enjoy a day in the sun.
And it didn’t disappoint!
Finding a place for the match(es)
Most restaurants and bars have wifi nowadays, so I made sure I brought a device, that could stream the match, with me to the beach. Using your stream from back home and need some VPN tips? Check out this thread. Reminder, most streaming services are usually prohibit access outside of their geo.
Larger beach fronts usually have bars and restaurants, so we walked along the beach until we found a place that would be open for the match, and looked half decent from the outside.
Once we found a decent bar, we set our stuff down and I walked over to confirm they had wifi and would be open for kickoff.
After they confirmed, I tested streaming capabilities by pulling up a video on YouTube to see how it loaded and played.
After all was set, I enjoyed a bit of sun before kick off.
Watching the match(es)
Around ten minutes before kick off, I headed back to the bar and got a seat facing the beach. I got my iPad on the wifi, turned on my VPN and got my streaming service up and running.
And while the bar had a more relaxed vibe, I’ve found that most places in South America don’t mind you being crazy when you’re watching the game. Just make sure you mention you’re watching football to the staff :)
I enjoyed a couple cocktails while watching the match, and nervously shouted “Yes!” after Bamford and Harrison scored their respective equalizers.
Overall experience watching the match(es)
Honestly, this was the easiest experience yet. Head to the beach, bring your device (that’s configured with a VPN), find a bar with wifi, and enjoy Leeds United over a few drinks in the sun.
I wish I had more for you all this time around, but it was pretty simple.
I’ll be back next week with a post on watching Leeds United in Cusco, Peru.
